Kaylen Ward vond dat er in de Verenigde Staten te weinig aandacht ging naar de slachtoffers van de Australische bosbranden, dus besloot ze om actie te ondernemen. De 20-jarige blondine uit Los Angeles trok naar Twitter en beloofde iedereen die minstens tien dollar doneerde aan een van de Australische hulporganisaties, een naaktfoto van zichzelf.
Waanzinnig succes
Haar plan werkte en al na enkele uren ontving ze tienduizenden berichten van mensen die op haar oproep ingingen. Intussen zou de teller al op 640.000 euro staan. Ward liet weten dat iemand zelfs 50.000 dollar (44.712 euro) doneerde en daarvoor vijftig video's en foto's van haar vroeg.
Oplichters
Jammer genoeg zitten er ook enkele oplichters tussen. Het feit dat twee mensen een identiek stortingsbewijs doorstuurden, is walgelijk. Als je niet eens tien dollar kunt uitgeven aan een goed doel en mij in de plaats daarvan probeert op te lichten, dan ben je echt het laagste van het laagste, schreef ze op Twitter.
