Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie will always be a "unit".
The 'Younger' star recently announced her and her husband are to divorce but has insisted the pair will always work together to take care of their three-year-old son Luca.
She said: "We are a unit and we're going to be a unit for the rest of our lives.
"We realised [as a couple] we weren't where we used to be. But I feel so lucky this happened when Luca was young because this is his normal now."
The 27-year-old singer and actress admitted at first, she was a little uncomfortable with having things "shaken up" but now feels happier and "excited" about the future.
She said: "It's a shift to have your routine shaken up (but) you can't mess up one day with a 3-year-old.
"When you make big decisions in your life, you feel powerful. I feel happy, I feel good, and I'm excited about all I have going on."
And Hilary hasn't ruled out having another child in the future.
She told People magazine: "The joy that Luca has brought to my life, and the purpose and meaning - there are no words for it. I definitely want that again."
